The third SPECTRE video blog (vlog) was released today, showing amazing car chase footage from the streets of Rome and interviews with Sam Mendes and Dave Bautista. Watch the full video below.

The latest vlog from the set of SPECTRE focuses on a car chase in Rome between the Aston Martin DB10 and the Jaguar C-X75. SPECTRE filming in Rome took place from 17 February until early March. Some of the shots were filmed in the UK, at Blenheim Palace.

The video features Director Sam Mendes, actor Dave Bautista (Mr. Hinx), Special Effects Supervisor Chris Corbould, Stunt Coordinator Gary Powell, and Action Vehicles Technical Coordinator Neil Layton.

“I love the idea of this fantastic car being in a one-on-one battle with another incredible car from Jaguar, which is similarly extraordinary actually,” says Sam Mendes. “So it’s a cat-and-mouse game through the night time streets of Rome, at great speed, between two of the fastest cars in the world.”

“It’s amazing. It’s one of those scenes that’s going to be very iconic,” adds Dave Bautista. “Just with the two cars racing through the streets of Rome – I mean, how often do you see that? It’s one of those things you only see in a James Bond film.”

In February of this year, the first videos were launched: the first vlog showed some beautiful scenes filmed in Austria and the second video focused on director Sam Mendes, again showing some scenes from Austria.

aston martin db mark iii

The DB Mark III is arguably the first ‘James Bond’ Aston Martin, appearing in Ian Fleming’s novel Goldfinger.

"As pioneers of the single-marque sale, we've returned to the Works Service here in Newport Pagnell for another great auction, exceeding all previous year's totals, with £10.3 million of motor cars sold," said Bonhams UK Head of Motor Cars. "The quintessentially British marque of Aston Martin attracts interest from enthusiasts across the world, a fact demonstrated here today as we took bids from all corners of the globe. This year's sale attracted a larger and more cosmopolitan than ever before, achieving an excellent result.

"The market demonstrated that there is a ready appetite for exceptional examples, even for models that had previously been regarded as not particularly fashionable. The result we achieved for a Virage Coupe illustrated this with £74,300 realized for the stunning 1990 model."

Barn find and project cars continued to demonstrate their popularity, with the 1958 Aston Martin DB Mark III Sports Saloon selling at twice top estimate, achieving £104,540, and a 1959 Aston Martin DB Mark III Sports Saloon soaring above top estimate, selling for £115,740. Paul Spires, Commercial Director at Aston Martin Works, said: "Today's Aston Martin Sale has been another hugely memorable occasion with keen bidding, strong sales, and rare and collectable Aston Martin sports cars going to buyers around the world.

"Despite the mixed weather there was a superbly sociable 'garden party' atmosphere among the 2,000 or so Bonhams guests who joined us here today – enjoying the sale and helping us to celebrate our 60 years in fine style."

1965 Aston Martin DB5 on auction expected to fetch $950,000 - $1.6M

The value of the stunning Aston Martin DB5 keeps rising and a beautifully restored Sage Green DB5 is expected to fetch between $950,000 - $1.6M USD at the Rolling Scuplture auction in New York on November 19th 2015.

Aston Martin DB5 auction 1

It is undeniable that the DB5, designed by Carrozzeria Touring, was elevated to design icon status largely due to its pivotal role in several James Bond films, starting with Goldfinger in 1964. The DB5's association with James Bond did double Aston Martin’s sales overnight, and has remained an important selling point to this very day. Regardless of any extra attention the affiliation with 007 and the films may have generated for the Aston Martin, it is also irrefutable that the DB5 was, and continues to be, recognized as a splendid, masterful piece of automotive design. While the car was conceived well before Goldfinger's producers ever thought to put it in the film, it is fascinating that the final design turned out to be every bit as unique and enigmatic as 007 himself - a highly-sophisticated and polished gentleman, who conceals his efficiently brutal abilities under his skin.

Aston Martin DB5 auction 2

The car at the Keno Brothers Rolling Sculpture Auction is from 1965, engine no. 400/1099, in the color Sage Green with a tan leather interior which fits the car really well.

Aston Martin DB5 auction 6

Aston Martin DB5 auction 3

Aston Martin DB5 auction 5

The car is in excellent condition after an amazing restoration and is registered with Aston Martin Owners Club.

Aston Martin DB5 auction 4

Another Bond related car in the auction is a rare 1968 Toyota 2000 GT Coupe. James Bond drove a custom convertible version of the 2000GT in You Only Live Twice. The one on auction still has a roof, so if you want to make it screen accurate, you might have to saw off the top of this car with an estimated value of $600,000 - $1.2M USD.

The line up of cars in the auction is truly impressive, including a 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400 S, 2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Prototype, 1990 Ferrari F40, 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series 1, 1934 Duesenberg SJ Continental Touring Berline By Rollston, 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB4 N.A.R.T. Competizione and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupe.

The entrance of the museum itself has been redone, and now features several Day of the Dead festival props (all used on the set in Mexico City), including a large skeleton with hat, smaller skeletons and bunting.

The main attraction of the new SPECTRE exhibit room is the Aston Martin DB10 used for the filming of the Rome car chase. There are two versions on display of this stunning and rare car. One is a stunt vehicle which was partly stripped and set up to shoot the ejector seat scene. The other is a fully functional DB10 that was used for the actual driving scenes in Rome.

During the press opening of the exhibition on November 17th, special effects supervisor Chris Corbould talked to the press and posed in some of the vehicles. Corbould was just in the news last week for setting a Guinness World Record for the largest film stunt explosion (read more).

Just as impressive as the DB10s is the orange stunt Jaguar C-X75 which has been scorched at the front and part of the the body.

The biggest car in the exhibition is a Land Rover Defender Big Foot, another stunt vehicle, one that was used to flip over a few times.

Some of the doors of the massive veihicle are missing as a result of the stunts, and there's a 'cannon' fitted in the rear seat area that created enough force for the car to flip over.

And last but not least, Franz Oberhauser’s beautiful antique Rolls-Royce Wraith, used in the Sahara Desert scene where James Bond and Madeleine Swann get picked up.

Making a trip to the museum is also worth it just to see some of the costumes of SPECTRE. Meg Simmonds, archive director of EON Productions, selected a props and costumes to make this SPECTRE exhibition even more complete.

The Cars of SPECTRE is open to the public starting 18th November 2015. Bond in Motion is definitely worth a visit, because all the non-SPECTRE vehicles are still on display as well. It is the largest collection of original James Bond vehicles.

The Cars of Spectre will be free to enter as part of the current Bond in Motion entry price. To avoid the queue it is recommended purchase your tickets in advance.

Bond in Motion has been the most successful exhibition in the history of the London Film Museum and features over 150 original artefacts spanning all 24 Bond films, including vehicles, miniatures, concept art and storyboards. Highlights include iconic cars such as the Aston Martin DB5 from GoldenEye; the ‘Wet Nellie’ Lotus Esprit S1 from The Spy Who Loved Me; the Rolls-Royce Phantom III from Goldfinger; and the ‘Little Nellie’ Wallis WA-116 Agile autogyro from You Only Live Twice.

The online-only sale will offer 14 of the 24 lots and be open for bidding from Tuesday 16 to Tuesday 23 February, with the invitation-only live auction being held on Thursday 18 February at Christie’s in London. Though the live auction is invitation-only, Internet and telephone bids will be open to anyone who wishes to take part in the sale.

All proceeds to benefit Médécins Sans Frontieres, other charitable organisations and the United Nations Mine Action Service.

The live auction on 18 February is led by an Aston Martin DB10, one of the series of DB10s designed and engineered by Aston Martin exclusively for James Bond, SPECTRE, illustrated above. Most of the DB10s were modified for use in the filming of SPECTRE, but two of those produced were kept back as show cars, for display purposes only, and this is one of them. The car is expected to realise between £1,000,000 and £1,500,000 and is to date the only DB10 to be released for public sale by Aston Martin and EON Productions. This is the only car that includes a special plaque signed by Daniel Craig and was displayed at the world premiere of SPECTRE at the Royal Albert Hall, London. Aston Martin has been associated with the James Bond franchise for over 50 years, with the DB10 model featuring in the latest Bond film, Spectre.

Additional highlights of the live sale include the Omega Seamaster 300 watch that was worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond, estimated at £15,000-20,000, while our online-only sale is to feature the laptop used by actor Ben Whishshaw as Q, estimated at £4,000-6,000, and a pair of Tom Ford Snowdon sunglasses, worn by Daniel Craig as James Bond, estimated at £4,000-6,000.

The Aston Martin DB10 from SPECTRE is now available as a Corgi 1:36 scale model. Bond Lifestyle takes a closer look at this officially licensed model.

Aston martin db10 model corgi

Driven by the success of the Anniversary edition of the company's iconic Corgi Aston Martin DB5, the new 1:36 scale Hornby Hobbie's Corgi James Bond Aston Martin DB10 model launches this month in the UK, coincoding with the UK release of SPECTRE on DVD and Blu-ray. The model will be available next month in the USA.

The Aston Martin DB10 CC08001 1:36 scale die-cast vehicle comes in a SPECTRE-blue box, decorated with 007 gun logo, SPECTRE logo and Corgi logo on the front.

[+] click on a photo to enlarge

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 box front

The back of the packaging shows the features of this model: "Autehntic opening and clusing doors" and Detailed wheels with low profile rubber tyres".

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 box back

The complete text on the back reads: "In 'Spectre', the 24th James Bond film, a cryptic message from the past sends Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually on to Rome, where his new Aston Martin DB10 is involved in a high speed chase with a Jaguar C-X75 through the city’s streets and along the banks of the Tiber.  As Bond ventures towards the heart of the sinister organisation known as Spectre, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks.

Bond first received an Aston Martin DB5 in the 1964 film Goldfinger and this 1:36 scale die-cast replica model of the DB10 celebrates a relationship that has endured for over half a century."

The car is mounted on a carton base, fixed with a scew at the bottom that can easily be removed by hand. The doors are closed with transparent tape. It would have been nice to see a Rome background scene printed on the base, but instead it's a plain, grey grid illustration on the carton.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 box open

The sleek lines of the DB10 are replicated nicely, and for a 1:36 scale model the body is quite detailed.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 front 3

Nice details are the black bottom part of the side mirrors, and the front splitter and rear diffuser. Hard to see on the images, but the air vents on the front hood are replicated (a series of small holes in the original car, which cools the engine, see an image here).

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 front 2

The wheels are detailed, with nice sharp lines of the rims, low profile rubber tyres, and a tiny Aston Martin badge in the center of the wheel. The disc brakes and brake pads are just visible, although not as detailed as the rims.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 back

The car has a grey metallic paint, and Aston Martin badges on the front and back

The licence plate DB10 AGB is printed on the black palstic bumper, so probably it will last longer than a sticker would.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 bottom

The bottom of the car reads "Corgi James Bond Aston Martin DB10".

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 left

The doors of the car can be opened. A downside is that this leaves quite a large space between the doors and the body in closed position.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 top open

The DB10 has beautiful lines, well repliated in the Corgi 1:36 scale model.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 top side open

Opening the doors allows for a better view on the interior, which is quite basic, all black plastic, but it gives enough detail to distinguish it as the DB10 interior.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 interior

The steering wheel is not round, but flat at the bottom, just like in the real car.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1 36 interior 2

A nice feature is that the doors open a bit upwards, similar to how the doors the Aston Martin DB10 (and some other recent Astons) open.

aston martin db10 corgi side

For £19.99 (or $29.99) the model is a nice addition to a Bond collection without breaking the bank, from a brand that made one of the most popular modelcars in history, the classic Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger ( also still available for £19.99 or $29.99).

If you want more action, then get the Scalextric SPECTRE set (£129.99) which includes a slightly larger 1:32 scale Aston Martin DB10 and a Jaguar C-X75.

If you're looking for a really detailed DB10 model, Hot Wheels will release a 1:18 Hot Wheels Elite version later this year - but expect to pay around £180 for that model.

Complete the DB10 car collection with a DB10 keychain, available at the 007 shop for £9.99.

Competition
Scalextric and Corgi offer you achance to win the DB10 and DB5 models and a Scalextric SPECTRE set. Enter the contest on the Scalextric website before March 3rd.

Get the Corgi Aston Martin DB10 1:36 scale model online at corgi.co.uk for £19.99 or pre-order it in the USA for $29.99.

In SPECTRE (2015), James Bond (Daniel Craig) drives an Aston Martin DB10. This car was especially designed for the film. 10 DB10 cars were manufactured in total of which eight have been used for SPECTRE filming, along with two show cars.

In the film, the DB10 is actually built for Bond colleague, secret agent 009, but Bond 'borrows' the car from Q and takes it to Rome, Italy. Bond drives the car to the funeral of Sciarra and later he drives to the SPECTRE meeting. He escapes the SPECTRE meeting in the DB10 and is chased by Hinx who drives a Jaguar C-X75. Bond uses some of the gadgets to escape from Hinx, including the flame thrower and an ejector seat with parachute.

The Aston Martin DB10 has a 4.7 litre V8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission.

The licence plate of Bond's car is DB10 AGB.

Unveiling
The DB10 was unveiled by director Sam Mendes at the official press launch of SPECTRE on the 007 Stage at Pinewood Studios on 4 December 2014.

Auction
So far, only one of the 10 DB10's has been sold: on 19 February 2016, one of the two show cars was sold at the Christie's SPECTRE auction for £2.4 million.

Scale model cars
Currently there are a few small scale models of th DB10, including the Hotwheels version, and a 1:36 scale Corgi DB10. The smallest version is the metal DB10 keychain, exclusively available on the 007 online store and at Bond In Motion.

Aston Martin reveals the DB11 Volante

Aston Martin has revealed the DB11 Volante. Joining the DB11 Coupe, which was launched last year at the Geneva Motor Show, the new DB11 Volante is the open version of this beautiful Sports GT.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante and Coupe

Perhaps we will see this DB11 Volante as James Bond's car in Bond 25. The only other time that Bond drives an open Aston Martin was in The Living Daylights (1987) when 007 (Timothy Dalton) drives a green open Aston Martin V8 Vantage Series III.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante front action

The DB11 Volante is powered by a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo 510PS V8 engine, the DB11 Volante is built around the all-new bonded aluminium structure first seen in the DB11 Coupe. Lighter and more rigid than the DB9 Volante, the model it replaces, the DB11 Volante has been engineered to deliver a much broader envelope of abilities.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante front

Visually the DB11 Volante features the striking single-piece aluminium bonnet and innovative ‘Curlicue’ aerodynamic feature from the DB11 Coupe, dramatic ultra-slim ‘light blade’ tail lights that create a bold C graphic, and new wood or carbon fibre veneer panels on the seat backs.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante rear light

Aston Martin DB11 Volante seat

Aston Martin DB11 Volante interior

The beautifully tailored fabric hood is available in a choice of bordeaux red, black silver or grey silver. Combining the timeless appeal of a fabric hood with the very latest acoustic and insulation materials, the all-new 8-layer roof cossets occupants from the extremes of weather and wind noise.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante roof

The Volante’s hood takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 to close and can be operated remotely from the key, or on the move at speeds of up to 31mph (50kmh) with a 31mph headwind. The new hood system has also led to a 20 per cent gain in boot volume compared to the outgoing DB9 Volante.

Aston Martin DB11 Volante rear

The first deliveries of the DB11 Volante are scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2018. MI6 should reserve at least £159,900 to purchase one in the UK. The recommended retail price for the DB11 starts at €199,000 in Germany and $216,495 in USA.

Aston Martin DB10 die-cast model cars

English

The Aston Martin DB10 is a unique car that was exclusively developed for the James Bond film SPECTRE. There were only 10 models made, all for the use of the film. Some were destroyed, some ended up at the Bond In Motion exhibition and only 1 was ever sold publicly, during the 2016 Christie's James Bond Auction where it sold for £2.4m ($3m).

When SPECTRE was released in the cinema, there were no die-cast car models available of the DB10. The first model of a DB10 was included in the Scalextric SPECTRE race set. It took many months for brands like Corgi and Hot Wheels to release die-cast models in 1:32 scale and 1:18 scale.

Currently there are several models available, and Bond Lifestyle lists them here.

Corgi Aston Martin DB10

Early 2016 Corgi released the 1:32 scale die-cast model of the Aston Martin DB10, model nr CC08001. The model looks good, and the doors can open, which is a nice detail for this small scale. The Corgi DB10 is widely available online.

In 2017, another release of the same car, now with model nr CC08002, is released, with a different box, part of a series of Bond related cars. This car is officially launched in November 2017, but can sometimes be found on eBay.

Toy State Aston Martin DB10, 1:32 scale

Toy State Aston Martin DB10

A fun version of the DB10 is the 1:32 scale model by Toy State. The doors can't open and the windows are black, but it comes with Bond music, working lights and engine sounds that are all activated via buttons on the roof. The car should cost around $20 / £14, which is about right for the quality and size of the car, but beware it is sometimes offered for much more on Amazon in the US or on eBay.

Nikko, known for its remote control cars and now owned by Toy State, has produced two r/c models of the DB10: one very small car that can be controlled by a remote that looks like a watch, and a bigger model, scale 1:12 that has a black remote with 007 logo.

The 1:12 scale model is big (49cm long x 16cm high x 18cm wide) and should cost around £35 - £40 or €40 (it seems to be only available in Europe). It runs on 6 AA batteries and 3 AAA batteries for the remote. The car features headlights and sounds, including the James Bond theme.

Nikko Aston Martin DB10 small remote control car

The small remote controlled car has a remote in the shape of a watch. Don't expect much of this model, comments on Amazon have noted that the car is very small and not great quality. Don't pay more than a few dollars/pounds/euros for this model, if you can even find it.

Feber Aston Martin DB10 6v

Feber Aston Martin DB10 6v

The Feber Aston Martin DB10 6v is hardly a die-cast model, but definitely worth mentioning in this list. The DB10 is not very realistic, but all the more fun since it can actually be driven around or controlled by a smartphone if your child can't reach the pedals yet. A full charge of the 6V battery let's you(r kid) drive it around for approximately one hour, up to 3Mp/h or 4km/h.

Feber Aston Martin DB10 6v

The car has a foot operated electric engine and forward and reverse gears. This car is harder to find, but online for example in the UK at Amazon, or search on eBay. The price isn't too bad if you realize it's only slightly more than the 1:18 Hot Wheels Elite model.

Today Aston Martin revealed the new Vantage. And it is clearly inspired by James Bond's Aston Martin DB10.

aston martin vantage front 2

The new Aston Martin Vantage

The new Vantage is powered by a 4.0-litre, 510PS/685Nm twin-turbo V8. One should be able to outrun SPECTRE in this car with its maximum speed of 195mph and 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds.

The Vantage reveals that Bond's Aston Martin DB10 was basically the nearly final prototype of the new Vantage. The overall body design and shape is exactly the same, with the main differences being the headlights, grille and bonnet, an extra opening on the side vent. The back of the car shows more elaborate led lights, different boot (trunk).

The proceeds of the sale will benefit The Opportunity Network, an organsation which helps young people with career development.

The limited-edition car features a bespoke exterior and interior directed by Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, in collaboration with Daniel Craig. "This Aston Martin Vanquish is a tour de force of automobile engineering and a distinct pleasure to drive," says Craig. "While I will miss it, I am keen to further the very important work of The Opportunity Network with its sale."

In 2014, Aston Martin created just 100 examples worldwide of the Centenary Edition Vanquish to celebrate the firm’s 100th anniversary. Designed and hand-built at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Warwickshire, England, the Vanquish features a 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine and an automatic gearbox. The car has a lightweight bonded aluminium structure combined with a motorsport-inspired carbon-fibre exterior, while the handcrafted interior was crafted from fine luxury leathers, carbon fibre and aluminium. The Centenary Edition Vanquish has a top speed of 183 mph.

The Aston Martin will be on view at Christie’s Los Angeles gallery from 27 February until 3 March, ahead of the preview and auction in New York. The winning bidder will also have the opportunity to visit the Aston Martin Headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, and meet with Reichman for a behind-the-scenes tour of the production facilities, including the chance to observe each step of the car’s manufacturing from start to finish.

Daniel Craig as James Bond never drove a Vanquish in the films, but he drove an Aston Martin DBS in Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace (2008), an Aston Martin DB5 in SkyFall (2012) and a DB5 and the special DB10 in SPECTRE (2015). Pierce Brosnan as James Bond drove the first generation Vanquish in Die Another Day (2002).
